SERGEY FURGAL INTENDS TO SUE RUSSIA 24 TV CHANNEL FOR SLANDER

The day before, it became known about the intention of the ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal to sue TV channel "Russia 24". We are talking about a news story where he was presented as a member of a criminal community.

This was stated by Marina Litvinovich, who visited him in the pre-trial detention center, according to MBH Media.

According to Litvinovich, the ex-governor watched the video, which confirmed the fact of his participation in an organized criminal group. As evidence, the TV channel presented a photograph of the politician accompanied by group of young people. The material also stated that Sergei Furgal was known in a criminal environment under the pseudonym "Doctor", probably because of his medical education.

According to the politician, he has no idea where the pseudonym came from, and regarding the photo, he said that it was taken during the celebration of someone's birthday and has no relation to the criminal environment.

Furgal noted that such videos discredit not only the journalists themselves, but also the authorities, casting a shadow on their reputation.

The name of Sergei Furgal received wide publicity after he was accused of organization of a series of murders of entrepreneurs in the early 2000s. The politician was arrested and the residents of the region, dissatisfied with this fact, went to rallies in support of him for several months. Furgal himself denies the charges, considering the case a turned-up charge.
