Two police officers were found guilty and received suspended sentence for bribery by the verdict of the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Novosibirsk. The law enforcement officers agreed with entrepreneurs to warn them about the upcoming inspections; there was also a bribe in goods for a refusal to bring a businessman to administrative responsibility.
The crimes the police officers were accused of were committed in 2018 and 2019. The first was to receive a monthly remuneration from the seller of fruits and vegetables for warning about the impending inspection to curb illegal trade.
In order not to be brought to administrative responsibility and always be aware of the raids, the businessman gave the police over 300 thousand rubles in six months.
In the same 2018, one of the police officers received a bribe with goods for a refusal to bring a businessman to administrative responsibility. An entrepreneur selling alcohol without a license handed over two dozen bottles of vodka, a dozen bottles of wine, as well as packages of Rollton noodles, cans of buckwheat and packs of paper to a law enforcement officer, NGS News reports.
On the first offense, the court established the guilt of the police officers and sentenced them to suspended sentences, imposing a ban on work in the law enforcement agencies for three years.
In addition, the convicts have lost their titles and will be required to pay a fivefold fine.
For petty bribery of goods, the policeman was convicted and received a fine of 100 thousand rubles, but the court released him from the punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
