PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE DEMANDS LIQUIDATION OF THE ALL-TATAR PUBLIC CENTER
The Supreme Court of Tatarstan is to consider an application demanding the liquidation of the All-Tatar Public Center (ATPC) for extremism. The prosecutor's office of Tatarstan acted as the initiator of the case; consideration will be held on February 24.

The prosecutor's office accused the ATPC of activities contrary to the laws and of an extremist nature. The reason for this was the events of 2017, when the organization "incited discord on the basis of the attitude to the language." Then the ATPC’s representatives called for the establishment of Tatar official language in the region, but this does not correspond to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which says that there are two state languages in Tatarstan, Tatar and Russian.

In 2017, ATPC etsablished the Naberezhnye Chelny branch - the court recognized it as an extremist organization.

ATPC had already received a warning about the inadmissibility of extremism in its activities, but continued to conduct similar work. For example, the organization organized rallies where it spread its extremist ideas.

It is also known that the head of the ATPC Farit Zakiev considers the accusations unfounded. According to Kazanfirst, in order to express his disagreement, Zakiev went on a hunger strike, but later cut it off due to health problems.
