POWER PROVIDERS OF THE US ARE SUED OVER A DEATH OF 11-YEAR-OLD BOY AMID HISTORIC FREEZING
A lawsuit has been filed against energy companies in the US. The reason for the litigation was the death of 11-year-old Christian Pineda, allegedly from hypothermia. The defendants are accused of negligence, and the amount of the claim is $ 100 million.

The tragedy took place during an extreme freezing that covered the south of the United States. The boy's family at that moment lived in a mobile home, for two days they were deprived of electricity and heating. In order not to freeze, people gathered in one room, and the children slept together. At one point, the mother found the child unconscious.

The family of the deceased is sure that he died of hypothermia, but the police are asked not to make hasty conclusions and wait for the expert opinion.

According to preliminary data, this may take weeks. Despite the uncertainty, the plaintiffs are determined and demand litigation. In their opinion, energy companies were not ready for the freezing and turned away from the most vulnerable segments of the population, choosing profit.

The companies, without warning, cut off the power in the trailer park, where the temperature dropped to -12 ° C at that moment. In addition, no information on the duration of the power failure, which prevented the plaintiffs from determining whether to leave, was provided.

Now power companies are awaiting speedy checks due to both massive power failures and a sharp rise in tariff prices.
