NOVAYA GAZETA NEWSPAPER IS ABOUT TO SUE RAMZAN KADYROV
The head of Chechnya Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, may turn out to be a defendant in the lawsuit filed by Novaya Gazeta newspaper. But the media does not plan to initiate the process first, such a development of events is possible after Kadyrov's own appeal to the court.
The chosen strategy was announced by the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, reports RIA Novosti. First, the question of initiating a lawsuit was put to an online vote, as a result of which over 70% of readers believed that the politician's accusations cannot be ignored.
The situation arose after the publication of a new investigation about the alleged extrajudicial executions in the republic.
The article contains an interview with ex-officer of the regiment Suleiman Gezmakhmaev. The man told the journalist that he had allegedly witnessed criminal acts.
After that, Kadyrov said that the story was made up by Gezmakhmayev, wishing to obtain asylum in Europe. As for the journalists of the media, the politician called them the "agents of Western services."
It is curious that after the publication of the material, the soldiers of the Akhmat Kadyrov regiment attempted to get protection from Vladimir Putin. However, they only received a comment from Dmitry Peskov that the president was not a judicial body.
