A film distribution company from Ufa may go bankrupt after a lawsuit filed by the company from St. Petersburg.  The operator of the Iskra IMAX cinema, Universal, owes Nevafilm more than ˆ 71,000.  The decision to recover this amount had been previously approved by the arbitration court.

Nevafilm applied to arbitration court back in June 2021.  It follows from the materials of the case that in October 2014, a supply agreement was concluded between the firms, including the conditions for carrying out installation and commissioning work related to equipment for showing films.  And although the amount of contractual obligations was more than ˆ 65.63 thousand, the company from Bashkiria paid less than a half of the cost (ˆ 31,965).
It was not difficult to prove the existence of debt, since the relations between the parties to the transaction were recorded in the materials of business correspondence and in the acts of reconciliation for settlement obligations.
As a result, the arbitration completely sided with Nevafilm, demanding from Universal ˆ 36,264.57 of the principal debt and ˆ 34,791.5 as the accrued interest of the penalty.

In terms of rubles, as of October 8, the total amount turned out to be 5,940,998 rubles, excluding representation services and state duties, the cost of which also fell on the shoulders of the company from Ufa.

However, the bankruptcy claim against Universal sent to the Arbitration Court of Bashkiria by Nevafilm is not the only one.  A similar claim has already been filed in September by representatives of the tax authorities.  It is not known how much the organization owes the Federal Tax Service, but all this makes one think about the difficult financial condition of the film distribution industry in the republic.

In particular, the Iskra IMAX cinema itself has been shut down since early February 2021.  Film screenings have also stopped in the Salavat complex located in Sterlitamak.  Both of them were part of the Planet Kino distribution network.
Earlier, the experts opinions that the owners of the cinemas decided to renovate them and that the closure may be related to this were expressed.
It is known that the ‘Universal’ (LLC) has existed in Ufa since 2008.  The organization is headed by Rinat Kulayarov, who is its founder.  The firm ended last year with a loss of 15.9 million rubles, which amounted to almost half of the proceeds (28.9 million rubles).

The ‘Nevafilm’ company (JSC) is headed by Oleg Berezin.  The organization has existed in St. Petersburg since 1992 and is engaged in the production of film products (video, cinema, television programs).  2020 became unprofitable for the company, the joint-stock company lost 376 thousand rubles.  At the same time, the year brought the company revenue of 213.3 million rubles.
