MORE THAN 30 US STATES SUE GOOGLE CORPORATION

A class action lawsuit was filed against the American corporation Google in the Washington court. The case was initiated by more than 30 American states, led by the Attorney General of Colorado.

The claim against Google boils down to its established dominant position in the provision of information search services on the Internet. The plaintiffs ask the court to restore competition in the market for providing similar services.

The initiators of the case believe that due to the corporate misconduct, hundreds of millions of people first turn to Google to answer any questions they have.

However, the representatives of the defendant in every possible way deny the accusations of monopoly, insisting that the service benefits society through its activities. In their opinion, the satisfaction of the lawsuit will harm a large number of both consumers and entrepreneurs.

According to the position of a company representative, all the requirements lie in the need to change the design of the search engine, which will ultimately cause damage. This is due to the fact that if the claim of the plaintiffs is satisfied, the company will have to show not a direct link to Google, but an intermediary. The situation will not only hit the quality of the search engine, but will also have to be implemented through entrepreneurship.

What is more, a representative of Google recalled that similar requirements have already been considered in the courts of other countries, where the position of the corporation was eventually adopted.
