INTERPROMBANK OF MOSCOW WILL BE DRIVEN TO BANKRUPTCY
INTERPROMBANK OF MOSCOW WILL BE DRIVEN TO BANKRUPTCY
The license of Interprombank, which had existed since 1995, was revoked on April 16, along with the licenses of Neiva Bank and Nordea Bank. Now the capital's arbitration has received a claim for the bankruptcy of a credit institution from the main department of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
And although neither the date of the court hearing, nor the acceptance of the lawsuit itself has yet taken place, the experts suggest that the reason for such a decision of the regulator could be the insufficient capitalization of the bank for settlements with creditors.
The credit institution has been providing services to the country's defense enterprises for many years.
According to the regulator, Interprombank violated the law by understating reserves and concluding contracts with non-core assets. It was expected that the Bank of Russia would seek the forced liquidation of the bank, but the regulator acted differently.
It is obvious that the bank had shown its ineffectiveness even before the license was revoked - last year's losses amounted to 3.9 billion rubles - more than a half of its capital. The organization was also deprived of its license to continue to operate in the securities market in April.
The court session, at which the question of liquidating the bank will have to be decided, was scheduled for the end of June.
However, if the court accepts the application of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and opens a bankruptcy case, the liquidation process of Interprombank can be significantly extended in time and will require an auction and sale of existing assets in order to pay off the debts to creditors.
