IKEA RECEIVED A LAWSUIT FOR VIOLATING THE RIGHTS OF RUSSIAN CONSUMERS
The Swedish corporation turned out to be one of many foreign companies that ceased their activities in the Russian Federation. After the announcement of the departure, IKEA announced a large-scale sale, within which it intended to sell the remains of products stored in Russian warehouses.

Following the sale, according to the experts of the International Law Company, there will be the liquidation of all controlled legal entities and the termination of contracts.

The consumer rights protection organization Public Consumer Initiative saw signs of dishonesty in the company's actions. They are expressed in the fact that the fulfillment of warranty obligations for the replacement of goods of inadequate quality or repair of equipment will become impossible, which will violate the rights of consumers.

Recall, in accordance with Russian legislation, the warranty period for a number of products sold by IKEA is 2 years. At the same time, the brand itself, as part of the sale, announces the possibility of applying for a warranty only within a two-month period.

In this regard, a public organization has prepared a statement of claim in defense of an indefinite circle of persons about IKEA's obligation to resume importing goods to Russia. The legal opinion will be provided by Rospotrebnadzor.

Despite this step, many are skeptical about the prospect of a lawsuit: even if a positive decision is made by the court, the defendant is unlikely to fulfill the stated requirements. And foreign courts, most likely, will not assist in the enforcement of the decision of the Russian court.
