HISTORIAN SOKOLOV WILL DEFEND HIS HONOR AND DIGNITY IN COURT

The Petrograd court of St. Petersburg will consider the case of the historian Oleg Sokolov, accused of the murder of a graduate student. The reason for the proceedings was the film “Invitation to the Ball. Victims of Russian Napoleon".

Sokolov's lawyer said that the film, posted on the Premier platform, denigrates the honor and dignity of his client. The requirements include the removal of the video, as well as compensation - 1,000 rubles from each of the two defendants.

The film tells about Sokolov's life before the murder of Anastasia Yeshchenko – allegedly, he lived with another girl and beat her.

The lawyer expressed his disagreement with the content of the film and stated that the indicated facts do not correspond to reality.

The second defendant is Ekaterina Przhigodzkaya, who was a witness in the murder case and who gave an interview to the filmmakers. She said that Sokolov really beat her and threatened her with a hot iron. We should note that earlier Przhigodzkaya received a defamation claim from the side of Sokolov's defense. The former lover of the historian is accused of false information about the beatings in 2008.

Oleg Sokolov was detained in the case of the murder of graduate student Anastasia Yeshchenko, committed in November 2019. The girl has lived with Sokolov for the past 5 years. After the murder, her body was dismembered and thrown into the river. Sokolov was caught when he was getting out of the river - he carried a bag with women's hands.
