FEDERAL SERVICE FOR SUPERVISION IN THE SPHERE OF TELECOM, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES AND MASS COMMUNICATIONS WILL IMPOSE A FINE ON SOCIAL NETWORKS FOR CALLING CHILDREN TO RALLIES
Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications made a decision to impose fines on social networks that disseminated propaganda videos calling young people to participate in uncoordinated rallies. The punishment will be imposed to both large social networks, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, and the video hosting YouTube.

The decision was made due to the fact that, despite the demands sent by the General Prosecutor's Office, as well as the notifications of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications itself, the videos containing calls for participation in the rallies on January 23, were not removed.

The total number of videos was 170.

It should be noted that according to the preliminary estimates, about 89% of content containing similar calls has been removed.

We are talking about campaigning for participation in support actions of the politician and opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was detained immediately after his return from treatment in Germany.

Now social networks will be fined, and the amount of fine may vary from 800,000 to 4,000,000 rubles. At the same time, in case of a repeated violation, the amount of fine can be increased to a tenth of the total amount of the company's annual revenue.
