CRIMINAL CASE ON CHARGES OF FRAUD TO BE LAUNCHED AGAINST NAVALNY
The day before, the official website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation published a message about the initiation of a criminal case against the politician and opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The text of the document states that the investigative body has “collected sufficient data” to bring Navalny to criminal responsibility and the reason for this is his illegal activities in a number of charitable foundations.
According to the investigation, Navalny spent over 350 million rubles in donations for personal needs, including material values and leisure abroad.
In addition to the opposition leader, part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale) is supposed to be applied to a number of other persons, whose names have not been announced yet.
Alexey himself has already commented on the situation on the official page of his Instagram. The oppositionist called it "Putin's hysteria", recalling that a criminal case on the attempt of his murder had not been opened, but at the same time, a new case was initiated against him.
We should recall that in August of the outgoing year, Alexei Navalny fell ill on the plane - doctors in Russia and subsequently in Germany were able to stabilize him, now the oppositionist continues to undergo rehabilitation abroad. Throughout this time, first Alexei's supporters and then he himself argued that the politician was poisoned by the Russian special services. Not so long ago, Navalny published a whole investigation, in which he named the specific names of the persons involved, but the Russian authorities deny everything.
