CHINA AND UKRAINE WILL SUE FOR BILLIONS OF DOLLARS

The day before, Chinese businessmen filed a multibillion-dollar lawsuit with an International Commercial Court. The Ukrainian government has already received a corresponding message about this.

The reason for such decisive actions was the losses, incurred by the plaintiffs from investments in the Ukrainian company Motor Sich PJSC. The company's activities are related to the production and maintenance of engines for aviation.

According to preliminary data, the amount claimed for recovery is $ 3.5 billion.

The case started with the Chinese side’s decision to start investing in a Ukrainian enterprise four years ago. Then the first loan agreement was concluded, and after just two years, the Chinese side took possession of over 50% of the company's shares.

At the same time, the Security Service of Ukraine expressed interest in the process of acquiring shares of Motor Sich PJSC in 2017, and after the announcement of the intention to build a similar plant in China, a criminal case was initiated.

The SBU crept into suspicion about the intention of the Chinese side to move both assets and production facilities of the Ukrainian enterprise abroad. After that, in the spring of 2018, the court seized the shares of the company owned by the Chinese investors.

The result of such measures was a sharp deterioration in the financial condition of the enterprise and the loss of markets, which led, among other things, to a claim filed by Chinese investors.
