AMERICAN NPO DEMANDS APPLE REMOVE TELEGRAM FROM APP STORE

The American non-profit organization Coalition for a Safer Web filed a lawsuit against Apple, insisting on the removal of the Telegram messenger from the App Store. According to the plaintiff, the application is used to distribute inappropriate content.

The NPO's claims are based on the situation that arose after the storming of the Capitol on January 6 this year. The protesters' attack on the building led to death of six people, including a police officer. The reason for such decisive action was the speech of Donald Trump, who did not accept the results of the presidential vote and called "to fight with all the might" and to "return the country."

According to the president of the coalition, Mark Ginsberg, the leadership of the messenger failed to suppress extremist statements after the assault, in connection with which Telegram became a distributor of all sorts of hateful opinions.

It is worth noting that the popularity of the messenger grew after the accounts of Donald Trump on social networks were blocked, and the Palper social network was disconnected. The latter was used by the president's supporters to discuss their position. Additional interest in Pavel Durov's product was expressed by WhatsApp, which announced plans to introduce a new privacy policy.
