Canadian musician Neil Young has filed a lawsuit for illegal use of his compositions. The US President Donald Trump is listed as the defendant in the case.
We are talking about the songs «Devil's Sidewalk» and «Rockin 'in the Free World», which were repeatedly used by the Trump's headquarters in political rallies in support of the president. In particular, the musician pointed out the rally that took place on June 30 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but this case is not the only one, since the copyright infringement has been going on since 2015.
Neil Young demands compensation in the amount of $ 150,000 for each case of illegal use of his work.
The lawsuit contains the information that the songs were used in a campaign that sowed ignorance and hatred, and therefore the musician could not approve of it. Moreover, Young said that he tried to prohibit the use of his songs, but he was ignored. Now the court will consider the case of copyright infringement.
