A LAWSUIT AGAINST LUKASHENKO WILL BE FILED WITH THE HAGUE TRIBUNAL

An unregistered presidential candidate Valery Tsepkalo announced his intention to apply to the International Criminal Court of The Hague. He noted that Alexander Lukashenko should be held accountable for the use of force against the protesters.

According to Tsepkalo, the documents for going to court are currently being collected, and the witness testimony is also being collected from people who suffered during the harsh dispersal of rallies.

Experts from the professional community have already noted that the idea of applying to The Hague is futile, since Belarus is not a member of the International Criminal Court, which means that it is impossible to hold the representatives of the country accountable. There is another court, the International one, but only the state can apply to it.

Obviously, Belarus will not do this, which means that there are no options.

It should be reminded that in the first days after the elections in Belarus, there were protests that were harshly suppressed by the security forces - tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-noise grenades were used against the protesters. According to the official figures, almost seven thousand people were detained.
