A CRIMINAL CASE WAS INITIATED AFTER ROADS BLOCKING AT A RALLY

Unauthorized rallies in support of Alexei Navalny that took place on January 23 all over the country ended with detentions and new criminal cases. The opposition leader himself was detained immediately after returning from Germany and is currently in jail.

Last Saturday, his supporters organized rallies and gathered thousands of people not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in other regions.

In the capital, despite the attempts of the authorities to close Pushkin Square, where the beginning of the meeting of the protesters was announced, the participants nevertheless gathered to express their position.

Detentions began even before the start of the rally - it is already known about the initiation of a number of criminal cases, including a crime established by part 1 of Article 267 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The norm presupposes responsibility for the roads blocking.

The fact is that on the day of the unauthorized action, a number of persons, as follows from the message of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the intention of unlawful behavior, organized the blocking of both roads and sidewalks of the city. This, in turn, entailed not only the traffic interruption, but also the blocking of transport communications. The names of the defendants in the case have not yet been reported.
