A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FROM 7 MILLION CLIENTS WAS FILED AGAINST MARRIOTT HOTEL

A class action suit was filed in the High Court of London by people who stayed at the hotels of the Marriott International Group. In total, 7 million people, who became victims of the data leakages, were mentioned as plaintiffs - they were automatically included in the application if they did not express a desire not to participate in the process.

We are talking about a massive data leakage that lasted from 2014 to 2018. The cybercriminals gained access to the guests' database, where they could find out not only their names, addresses and phone numbers, but also passport data, and even information about bank cards. The hotels are accused of not preventing such a long and egregious incident.

Similar claims have been filed against Marriott in Canada. As for the official punishment for the hotel chain, the UK Information Commissioner's Office stated it planned to impose a $ 130 million fine, but the final decision on the issue will be announced in September.
