A CITIZEN OF RUSSIA IS SUING COCA-COLA COMPANY FOR IMPOSING THE IMAGE OF SANTA CLAUS

Denis Amosov, a marketing manager from Tomsk, reported on his Instagram about a lawsuit against the Coca-Cola Company for excessive PR of Santa Claus in the Russian Federation. The plaintiff demands 30 million rubles in moral compensation - this money will be used to create the Association to protect the image of the Russian Snow Maiden.

Amosov says that because of the advertising of Coca-Cola, centuries-old Russian traditions are being lost, and the images of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden are being replaced from the idea of celebrating the New Year. The marketing manager accused the company of substituting concepts - Amosov is sure that Coca-Cola is trying to convince Russians that the celebration of a Happy New Year and Christmas is possible only with their drink and Santa Claus.

The plaintiff also wrote letters to Vladimir Putin and the Ministry of Culture with a proposal to legally limit the propaganda of Santa Claus in the Russian Federation.

Amosov believes that this negatively affects the younger generation, which may lose the knowledge about Russian fairy-tale characters. The plaintiff also added that the Christmas promoted by Coca-Cola is not a Russian traditional holiday and is celebrated by Catholics in December.

The claim was filed with the Kuntsevsky District Court of Moscow. It was noted that Viktor Potapov will act as a lawyer in the case.
