$ 1 BILLION LAWSUIT WAS FILED AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT OF GEORGIA

The lawsuits from the Anaklia Development Consortium and Dutch investor Bob Mayer, one of the founders of the Georgia Reconstruction and Development Company, were filed against the government of Georgia.The total amount of the declared claims exceeds $ 1 billion.



The news about the lawsuits became known at a press conference of the consortium. Anaklia Development Consortium filed a claim in the Arbitration Court of the International Chamber of Commerce, the Dutch investor - in the International Center for Settlement of the Investment Disputes.  

The reason for the claims was a financial damage that the implementation project for the construction of the port in Anaklia suffered due to the actions of the Georgian authorities.

The applicants demand to restore their rights, as well as to pay the damages.

We are talking about the events of January 2020 - then the Georgian government terminated the contract with the Anaklia Development Consortium due to non-fulfillment of obligations for the development of the project. At the same time, the authorities stated they did not abandon the idea of   building a deep-water port in Anaklia and would certainly return to this issue after the end of the pandemic. New investors will be found for implementation of the project.
