VELIKOUSTYUG DISTILLERY IS AT RISK OF BECOMING BANKRUPT
Founded in 1895, the Velikoustyug Distillery (VLVZ) has a rich history. But his future was in doubt. The turning point in the fate of the enterprise was the decision of the Velikoustyugsky district Court, issued in February 2025.

According to RBC, at the beginning of the year, the Prosecutor General's Office demanded to confiscate the property of Bayader Group, the actual owner of the VLVZ. The court decided to convert all the assets of the plant to the income of the Russian Federation. The information received by the authorities became the basis for this measure. According to them, the beneficial owners of the company financed the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Following this, at the end of July 2025, the state included the enterprise in the privatization program planned for the period from 2025 to 2027. According to it, a block of shares representing 99.2% of the authorized capital of VLVZ will be put up for sale. Now it is completely controlled by the state.

It should be noted that the company's financial indicators have recently shown steady growth: by the end of 2023, revenue reached 1.8 billion, which is 16.8% higher than in the previous period. Net profit increased by 11%, amounting to 63.9 million rubles.

In 2024, the plant's production capacity allowed it to produce about 1 million decaliters of vodka, which secured it the 19th place in the ranking of domestic producers of strong alcohol. However, despite the successful operational activities, the company's ownership has undergone major changes.

The key event determining the future fate of the manufacturer was the statement of the Vologda Federal Tax Service. The tax authority appealed to the court with a demand to declare VLVZ insolvent (bankrupt).

The petition was submitted to the court back in July 2025, but was initially left without motion. By the beginning of September, the Federal Tax Service eliminated the procedural violations. However, the submitted corrections proved insufficient for the immediate initiation of proceedings in the case. The issue of bankruptcy of the famous alcoholic enterprise remains open and should be the subject of legal proceedings.
