THERE WILL BE NO NEW YEAR: THE MAYOR OF MOSCOW PROHIBITED MASS CELEBRATIONS
The authorities of Moscow have made a decision to introduce new restrictive measures due to the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection in the capital. The measures will be in effect for two months: from November 13 to January 15.
It has already been announced that mass cultural celebrations, including the New Year's and Christmas events, were canceled.
In addition, students of both higher educational institutions and colleges will be transferred to distance learning. The authorities will block their transport cards for this period. The work of all kinds of children's entertainment centers, children's rooms in cafes and restaurants, and shopping center buildings will be temporarily suspended.
The night work of restaurants and bars (from 23 to 6 am) will also be prohibited.
All sorts of events with the participation of spectators will also be impossible. Exhibitions were included in this list as well.
As for theaters, concerts and cinemas, they will be subject to a restriction on the occupancy of halls - no more than a quarter of the total number of seats might be occupied.
It is worth noting that this year the capital's budget suffered a significant blow due to the coronavirus pandemic; according to the mayor of the city, Moscow's economy will return to normal indicators only in a year.
Sergei Sobyanin said that the beginning of the New Year will be difficult for the city, perhaps even more difficult than 2020. However, by the end of 2021, the situation will stabilize, and Moscow will return to normal life.
