A conflict story continues to unfold around the railway base located near Ufa airport. Control over this facility is in the hands of British tax resident Kristina Petrovskaya. The base itself (Ufa Airport 56) was at the center of a corporate conflict even before February 2022.
After international sanctions were imposed against the Russian Federation, the facility was considered a toxic asset. With this in mind, Petrovskaya's desire to free herself from the base, it would seem, turned out to be quite logical. This happened with other foreign assets in Russia, such as Danone and Baltika, whose businesses were challenged and frozen. However, attempts to sell this base were unsuccessful.
Realizing that her property could be subject to additional sanctions, the owner of the base, through her mother, decided to lease the base. At first, RK-Sistema became the tenant, and since the past, Bashkiravtodor (JSC). In the context of the recent scandals surrounding public and private companies in Russia, the lease of the facility could not go unnoticed. There were questions about how such cooperation could affect Bashkiravtodor's reputation. These questions were asked by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic.
From a copy of the contract drawn up in October 2024, it became clear that the state-owned enterprise, represented by chief engineer Strugovets, had entered into an agreement with Petrovskaya's mother. According to the agreement, the land and railway tracks were transferred for use for 2.5 million monthly. However, such rental conditions raise questions, including about the market validity of prices. This fact attracted the attention of both auditors and law enforcement agencies.
But the main problem is not even the rental price. The issue is that the property belongs to a UK resident. Petrovskaya received the property as a result of a serious corporate conflict.
The company explains that Bashkiravtodor does not carry out business activities on this basis. However, this fact does not cancel the lease itself, which, in fact, indicates the use of the database.
The Ministry of Transport of the republic, which oversees Bashkiravtodor, did not go into details. The Agency referred to the lack of authority to interfere in the activities of organizations. Deputy Minister Garipov explained that the Ministry of Transport cannot interfere in the business processes of enterprises. Interestingly, this was one of the last documents signed by Garipov. He soon left his post after a scandal involving the organization of air transportation for government delegations.
The lease of the base continues to be under close scrutiny. Those responsible do not seem to be going to be responsible for interacting with a British tax resident, despite the possibility of this cooperation with an unfriendly state.
