After the adoption of the amendments to the Constitution, the legislative branch faced the difficult task of developing draft laws that put the new rules of law into practice. The day before, the lower house of Parliament unanimously adopted a draft law amending the provisions of the Family Code.
In particular, the innovation affected Article 6 of the Family Code of the Russian Federation - in the current edition, it is about the priority of international law over Russian law in a situation of contradiction.
The new law is intended to change this structure, designating the priority of Russian law in the area of family.
In the opinion of the deputies, the amendment is necessary because of the different vision of one situation on the part of the world community and Russian established moral and ethical values.
Consequently, same-sex marriages, polygamy, recognized in a number of countries and informing children born from a test tube about their origin will not be recognized in Russia.
After the final adoption of the law and its entry into force, the rules of law enshrined in international treaties where Russia is listed as a party, in case of a conflict with domestic law, will cease to operate. In the event of disputable situations, the Constitutional Court will be called upon to help.
