THE SITES AT THE VOSTOCHNY COSMODROME WERE DE-ENERGIZED DUE TO A DEBT OF 51 MILLION
The Vostochny cosmodrome, which is under construction, is experiencing power outages. They are caused by the debt incurred by the general contractor of the facility, PSO Kazan. The organization owes the power engineers about 51 million rubles. And this is despite the fact that 4 million tons of electricity is consumed every month.

The decision to limit supplies to construction sites was made by the structure of RusHydro – DEK (Far Eastern Energy Company). Power engineers report that all attempts to resolve the situation peacefully have not been successful. Repeated requests to repay the debt have failed.

According to the executive director of the DEK, in the spring the organization decided to meet the contractor halfway. Scheduled supply outages were canceled, as the PSO guaranteed payment. The amount owed at that time was about 24 million rubles. But the company did not dare to fulfill its obligations.

The power engineers declare their intention to file a claim to arbitration with a request to recognize the PSO as an insolvent company. We remind you that in 2024, representatives of the Federal Tax Service were already going to initiate bankruptcy of the PSOAS. The contractor reported that he would pay the debt on time every month, including interest charges. However, he did not fulfill his obligations in the end.

Despite the energy restrictions, the management of the cosmodrome assures that the work will continue as normal. The head of construction notes that the construction of the launch complex, designed to launch the Angara rocket, does not depend on electricity supplies suspended by the DEK. In addition, they promise to pay off the debt by the end of the month.

The construction of the cosmodrome began 13 years ago. It has caused scandals more than once. Initially, 81 billion rubles were allocated for the project. In April 2016, the primary construction work was completed. At the same time, the first launch took place, after which the second stage was launched. Work on it was supposed to be completed by 2019. It was assumed that about 30 billion rubles would be spent on this every year.

By the end of 2018, the Prosecutor General's Office announced the initiation of numerous cases related to criminal violations of the law committed during construction. In 2019, the head of state also spoke about this, voicing the multimillion-dollar amounts of stolen budget funds. According to current expectations, Vostochny will be finally completed by the end of next year.
