THE RFU WANTS TO INITIATE BANKRUPTCY OF FC TOM DUE TO A DEBT OF 42 MILLION
The Russian Football Union (RFU) intends to use the right to initiate bankruptcy proceedings against the Tom football club. Such a decision may be made if the team's legal entity does not repay the debt owed to the organization in the amount of 41.9 million rubles within the prescribed three-month period. Information about this is posted in the register of bankruptcy reports.

The reason for a possible appeal to the Tomsk court (AS TO) was the debt previously confirmed by the court. Back in September, the Moscow Arbitration Court (AS GM) supported the RFU's claim, collecting the amount from FC Tom.

The financial obligations arose due to the fact that the union had previously transferred 42 million rubles to the Tomsk club for the development of youth and children's football. The funds were provided due to the status of Tomi as a football academy, but the financing conditions, according to the RFU, were not fulfilled. This led to the unilateral termination of the contract and the demand to return the funds provided, which the club refused to do.

In the spring of 2025, Tom officially recognized only part of the debt – 31.17 million rubles, explaining the inability to pay the amount due to lack of money. In response, the Russian football structure filed a lawsuit not only for repayment of the principal debt, but also for accrued interest.

The situation is complicated by the overall financial condition of the club. Tom spent its last season at the professional level in 2021/2022, finishing the FNL championship in 14th position. Further, faced with mounting debts, the club lost its professional status and was expelled from the RFU.

As the financial situation worsened, the team's assets, including the main Trud stadium and sports facilities for youth teams, were seized. Later, all these facilities were transferred to Tomsk. At the same time, the legal entity of the organization has not been formally recognized as insolvent.

Debt problems are also reflected in the database of enforcement proceedings. According to the FSSP, more than 30 of them have been opened in relation to FC Tom. The total amount of debt is 36.5 million. The maximum of them is related to the debt to the Federal Tax Service – 10.6 million. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the Tomsk Regional Olympic Reserve Sports School owns the club. Its founder is the regional authorities.
