The spread of coronavirus infection has prompted many governments to take unprecedented measures.

In Russia, the concerts were canceled one after another, public spaces and places were closed, air traffic was limited, and after that, air traffic was terminated. This week has been declared a non-working week, people are being called for self-isolation, and the State Duma is preparing a draft law on a criminal liability for violation of quarantine.

But there are places, where people gather not because of their own will, such as pre-trial detention centers, colonies, and prisons. If a person, infected with a coronavirus gets there, the probability that he or she will not infect the others is rather small: in such places, the number of people per unit area is too large.

The Federal Prison Service management is aware of this, and has already prepared a corresponding order for Moscow, where more than a half of cases of coronavirus infection were registered.

On March 31, a message, containing information about the introduction of quarantine in Moscow pre-trial detention centers was sent to the head of the Department for the Preservation of Order of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Moscow.

From now on, the pre-trial detention centers do not accept new suspects, accused and convicted persons; their removal from the pre-trial detention centers for judicial investigative actions has also been stopped. Now, there will be only one pre-trial detention center to accept the “newcomers” - PKU SIZO-7, located in Kapotnya. This measure will be valid until the relevant order to cancel it.
