Kameya then acquired the rights of claim to the automaker from the GAZ group for this amount.

Now, according to the court verdict, local proceedings against VW have begun. It covers exclusively assets located in Russia. The term of the competitive process is set for six months. At the same time, Cameo was included in the list of creditors with recognized claims of almost 17 billion. The history of the conflict began after VW shut down operations in Russia. The assembly of the brand's machines was carried out, in particular, at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod, which is a division of GAZ. The termination of the 2017 agreements on joint assembly became the basis for a number of lawsuits: in the spring of 2023, GAZ demanded compensation from VW for losses and lost profits totaling about 59 billion rubles.

As part of these processes, almost all of the concern's Russian assets were seized, including the Kaluga plant, which was put up for sale. Later, security measures were lifted from a number of facilities, which allowed the German group to complete the transfer of property.

In the spring of 2023, they were sold to Art Finance, which was assisted by Avilon dealer holding. The scale of the contract did not exceed ˆ125 million (about 11.3 billion in Russian currency). Prior to that, VW representatives indicated that the value of the property was 47.5 billion.

Meanwhile, the court proceedings continued. In July 2023, the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region partially satisfied the claim of the GAZ group, deciding to recover 16.9 billion rubles from Volkswagen. These obligations became the subject of a subsequent lawsuit by Cameo.

The Kameya company, whose claims the court entered into the register of creditors, is registered in the capital and has an authorized capital of 10 thousand rubles. She initiated bankruptcy proceedings against VW about a month ago, in August 2025.
