The Government of the Russian Federation has approved the rules by which the money for the tours that were cancelled due to the pandemic will be paid back to the tourists

The money for compensation payments will be paid by the Tour Operators Personal Responsibility Fund according to the following order:

  1. The tour operator declares the need to return money to tourists at the expense of the fund and sends the application to the "Tourist assistance".

  2. The website of the tour operator should contain the information about the need to request the compensation. The applications are accepted within six months.

  3. The tour operator creates a register of tourists' requirements. The cases with changes to the terms of the trip are not included in the register.

The payout from the fund is possible under the following conditions:

  • If the agreement with a tour operator was concluded before the adoption of the rules for compensation by the Government of the Russian Federation;

  • If the tour was fully or partially paid for;

  • If the period of the tour partially or completely coincides with the period of restrictions on entry into the host country.

The grounds for refusal of payment may be:

  • problems with the submitted package of documents (not a full package, false or incomplete information is indicated);

  • inconsistency of the claimed requirement with the established payment conditions.

"Tourist assistance" fund is obliged to inform both the tour operator and the tourist about its decision. In case of refusal to pay, the tour operator has a right to eliminate the shortcomings and apply again.
