The Federal Tax Service demands bankruptcy of the key company of the Motor Land dealer network
On June 11, 2025, the Voronezh Arbitration Court (AS VO) received a statement from the tax authorities, in which the Federal Tax Service asked them to declare the company Sokrat insolvent (case no.A14-9432/2025). The company is the main legal entity of the Motor Land automobile group in Voronezh. The amount of the organization's debt to the fiscal service is about 695 million.
"Socrates" received a residence permit in Voronezh 23 years ago. The company was engaged in the wholesale supply of passenger cars. Last year, the company's revenue amounted to 35 million with a loss of 691 million. The controlling stake (51%) belongs to Evgeny Katyushkin, the remaining shares are held by Elena Volkova and Yulia Katyushkina.
The Federal Tax Service's claim for the insolvency of Socrates was initially returned due to the lack of supporting documents. It is noteworthy that the judge originally appointed in the case was replaced. As follows from the case file, the company's debt to the tax authorities was formed in the period from 2017 to 2019. But the structure and causes of the debt have not been disclosed. The tax service limited itself to referring to professional secrecy.
At the same time, criminal proceedings against Evgeny Katyushkin, the beneficiary and head of the automotive group, are continuing in one of the Voronezh regional courts. The investigation considers him to be a participant in a criminal scheme to evade tax payments by using fictitious transactions. Katyushkin's brother, who has already died, is also involved in this case.
According to the investigation, the brothers caused damage to the state budget in the amount of more than 300 million. Katyushkin himself, referring to the protection of personal data, does not comment.
According to the official website of the Motor Land Group of companies, the company represents the interests of Kia, Geely, Haval, and Jetour car brands. The car dealerships of the holding are registered as separate legal entities. But all of them are part of the structure of the closed mutual fund Avtofond. It is managed by the metropolitan firm Insight Capital.
Experts estimate the chances of bankruptcy as almost one hundred percent. The value of Socrates' assets does not exceed 100 million, which makes it impossible to cover current debts. At the same time, there may be attempts on the part of owners to avoid subsidiary liability.
