SPIRIDONOVSKAYA MINE OWES EMPLOYEES 216 MILLION
In the Kemerovo region, a critical salary debt has formed at the Spiridonovskaya mine. It exceeded 216 million rubles. As a result of the prolonged crisis, the number of employees of the company has sharply decreased. In the past, 938 people worked here, and today there are 279 left. At the same time, the vast majority of the staff (268 people) are involved exclusively in maintaining the life-support systems of the facility.

According to the Kuzbass administration, on September 8, the mine management reported on the situation. The main focus was on debt issues and large-scale staff reductions. The very next day, on September 9, a court hearing on the bankruptcy case of the enterprise is due to take place.

Back in the summer of 2025, the head of the regional cabinet of Ministers, Andrei Panov, drew the miners' attention to the instability of the situation. He noted that wages had not been paid since May, and advised employees to consider employment at other enterprises in advance. According to the official, the prospects for further operation of the mine directly depend on the search for investments, but there is no certainty that the owners will be able to attract them. He considered the mine's conservation as the most realistic scenario.

The financial performance of the mine confirms the depth of the crisis. According to information from open sources, the company is owned by the West Siberian Company (JSC), which belongs to Alexander Prozhikin. With revenue of 2.2 billion rubles last year, the company recorded a net loss of almost 1.8 billion.

August brought only temporary relief. Due to the sale of one of the coal shipments, the owners managed to partially close their alimony debts and pay their salaries for June. However, coal mining has been completely suspended for about a week, production has actually stopped, and debts continue to increase.

A meeting with the staff is scheduled for September 10. Panov emphasizes that in such conditions it is unacceptable to make empty promises about the imminent restoration of production: the company does not have the means to resume work. The very fact that the bankruptcy case is being considered only confirms the seriousness of the situation.

The timing of payments also remains uncertain. CEO Vyacheslav Malakhov said at an operational meeting that the organization would be able to repay the July debt no earlier than November. The final settlement with the employees is expected only by April 2026.
