SOBERING-UP STATIONS WILL REAPPEAR IN RUSSIA

The corresponding draft law was adopted by the State Duma in the third reading on December 22. From January 1, 2021, medical sobering-up stations will again appear in Russia.

The institutions will have to be paid for, being created on the basis of public-private partnership. General rules for the operation of sobering-up stations will be established by the Government of the Russian Federation, while it is noted that the regions will receive money from people who have ended up in institutions.

The deputies were not satisfied with the situation where nothing new appeared instead of the abolished medical sobering-up stations.

At the time of their abolition, the appearance of such institutions on the basis of health care was supposed, but the years have passed and nothing has changed. According to statistics, every year about 10 thousand people die from frostbite on the street while being intoxicated, not to mention the number of crimes committed under the influence of alcohol.

At the moment, there are sobering-up stations in 20 Russian regions. According to the deputies, they work efficiently and reduce negative figures. The only drawback is that so far the institutions have operated outside the legal framework, but now the regions will officially receive all the necessary rights.

It is assumed that the price for the services of sobering-up stations will be the same all over the country.

According to the deputies' estimates, a night in a sobering-up station will cost about 1,500 rubles. The police, by the way, have already received powers that allow them to deliver drunk citizens to the appropriate institutions. Before being placed in a sobering-up center, a citizen will have to be examined by a medical worker.

It is worth noting that the regions will not receive a direct obligation to create sobering-up facilities - this is just a recommendation.
