SBERBANK INTENDS TO BANKRUPT ST. PETERSBURG'S GEOISOL
Sberbank has officially announced plans to apply to the arbitration court with a demand to declare the St. Petersburg contractor Geoisol bankrupt. The publication on the "Fedresource" indicates the beginning of the legal procedure in full compliance with the bankruptcy law.

For the contractor, this is far from the first encounter with the threat of financial collapse. In St. Petersburg last fall, arbitration had already begun considering a similar claim by T-Bank. According to court documents, the company's debt to this creditor is about 1,143 billion rubles.

The financial situation of Geoisol raises questions, especially against the background of its involvement in a high-profile criminal case. The organization was subcontracted during the construction of a branch of the Nakhimov College in Kaliningrad.

The investigation proved that in 2020-2022, officials, including Alexey Shirinkin, ex-head of the Baltic Fleet construction department, manipulated work reports. This allowed the embezzlement of more than 290 million from the state budget. In September, Shirinkin received a 4-year sentence for fraud and forgery and was sent to a penal colony.

Paradoxically, with significant annual revenue, which exceeded 14 billion rubles by the end of 2024, Geoisol's net profit turned out to be symbolic – only about 3 million. This disparity also indicates serious internal problems.

In addition to the claim from T-Bank, another attempt to initiate bankruptcy of the contractor was noted in the court file. Initially, the statement was made by the Business Group company, but in October it was rejected due to procedural errors. After that, several other organizations expressed their willingness to join the process. Now the court will examine their claims.
