RUSSIAN DEALERS DEMAND 8.5 BILLION FROM RENAULT FOR LEAVING THE MARKET
On May 2, 2023, Russian car dealers sent a document to the management of the French industrial concern Renault. In it, they ask a foreign company to pay them 8.5 billion rubles as compensation for lost profits and losses incurred.

The French carmaker left the territory of the Russian Federation in May last year. The share of the organization in the capital structure of AvtoVAZ was transferred to the institute by US. The concern transferred the capital plant to the Moscow government. After that, domestic car dealers had questions to the company's management about who would compensate them for the previously incurred costs of renting and purchasing real estate, hiring and salaries of employees.

According to the head of the Russian association of car dealers Alexey Podschekoldin, the letter was sent personally to the president of the company Jean-Dominique Senard. In it, the Russian business proposes to conclude a settlement agreement that allows Renault car dealers to receive the necessary compensation and not bring the case to court.

On March 20, 2023, another automobile concern has already become a defendant in one of these cases. Representatives of the GAZ group appealed to the Nizhny Novgorod arbitration, demanding to recover more than 15.6 billion rubles from Volkswagen. According to experts, this is the price of losses incurred by regional enterprises that assembled Volkswagen and Skoda cars on their conveyors. Later, on May 5, a similar amount appeared in another similar lawsuit by GAZ.

According to experts, the reputation of the French automaker in the eyes of partners largely depends on the possibility of compensation from Renault. If the French company does not settle the conflict and sign an agreement, its return to the Russian automotive market may be very problematic.
