From the beginning of 2021, residents of apartment buildings will face a number of new rules and requirements regarding fire safety measures. The innovations will affect the rules for storing the personal belongings of residents in the common building area, the procedure for operating gas appliances and even garde-corps on the windows of the first floors, if there are any.

At the beginning of the year, a ban on storing personal belongings of residents on the basement floors of buildings will come into effect.

Earlier, the same requirement has already been introduced for attics.

Garde-corps installed on the basement windows should open. At the same time, there is a possibility that firefighters may also pay attention to the gridded doors and windows on the ground floors - especially in the situations when they are designated as emergency exits.

To operate gas appliances, it will be necessary to undergo maintenance.

Interaction with faulty equipment will be prohibited. The rule allows the possibility of prohibiting the use of the gas stove until the moment of its diagnostics.

For violation of the new rules, administrative and even criminal liability is provided. The administrative one provides for the fines from 2 to 5 thousand rubles, and the criminal one can occur in a situation of causing harm to the life or health of other people. In this case, the offender can receive up to 7 years in prison.

At the same time, according to experts, the rules do not contain any fundamental changes, and people living in houses with less than twenty years of history from the moment the building was put into operation should not worry at all.
