PERM MANAGER IS BEING TRIED FOR FRAUD IN THE BANKRUPTCY PROCESS
The court in Perm continues to consider the fraud case brought against the arbitration manager Sergei Volkov and entrepreneur Sergei Shilo. The process is related to the bankruptcy of the SBM company more than ten years ago. At the same time, Shiloh was also charged with money laundering.
The SBM company was established in 1999. Its beneficiaries were the Spiridonovs' father and son. The founders also included Yana Poluyan. The organization worked in the field of trade. The annual turnover of the company reached 600 million rubles.
In 2007, the company went into bankruptcy. By 2009, the debtor's assets had decreased to 135.4 million. The following year, the company was declared insolvent.
In the process of bankruptcy, a plot of land with an area of more than 13.5 thousand square meters, located near the Perm hippodrome, was sold at an undervalued price. The investigation believes that this transaction was the result of a criminal conspiracy between Volkov and Shilo.
The arbitration manager did not take any action, and the property passed to the businessman Shilo, affiliated with the bankrupt company. After a while, the property was sold at market value. According to local media, the damage from this operation for creditors, including the Perm authorities and Sberbank, was estimated at 87 million rubles.
In 2012, Volkov was removed from bankruptcy management at the initiative of Sberbank. Soon, signs of fictitiousness and premeditation were discovered in the bankruptcy of the organization. The co-founder of the organization Spiridonov was put on the international wanted list. As law enforcement agencies suggest, the former owner may be hiding in Cyprus.
At the hearing in the case, held on January 16, 2023, both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. At the same time, there are grounds to assume that the criminal prosecution of Volkov may be terminated, since the statute of limitations expires. In relation to Shiloh, the State prosecution is requesting the appointment of a real term. The verdict is scheduled for February 16, 2024.
