The Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin announced an increase in a number of social benefits that will be paid to the citizens of Moscow in 2021. This statement was made by the mayor during his speech at the Moscow City Duma.

Pensions for non-working residents of the capital, who have been living in the city for more than 10 years, will exceed the threshold of 20 thousand rubles.

Thus, the increase in payments compared to last year will amount to 722 rubles. The indexation will also affect a number of other social payments, in particular child benefits, as well as payments for the elderly people.

Sergei Sobyanin indicated that after the work on vaccination against coronavirus, the work on the Moscow Longevity project will be resumed. The Mayor also outlined the main task of work in the field of social protection for the next few years - it is to form a more flexible system out of the classic social security system, capable of providing high-quality assistance. According to the idea of the Moscow authorities, every person who finds himself (herself) in a difficult life situation should be able to contact social services and get help there.

Moreover, it can be provided both by services independently and with the involvement of volunteers or non-profit organizations.
