HUNTING FOR SPICES LISTED IN THE RED BOOK LEGALIZED IN RUSSIA
HUNTING FOR SPICES LISTED IN THE RED BOOK LEGALIZED IN RUSSIA
This month, legislative changes allowing hunting for animals listed both in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and its regions came into effect. The list of reasons for this is exhaustive. The Ministry of Natural Resources separately emphasized that the existing ban on hunting such animals, nevertheless, continues to be in force.
The innovations exclude the provision on a complete ban on the production of animals in the Red Data Book. From now on, it will only be possible in a few regulated conditions.
For example, it became possible to hunt for the animals listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation for the purpose of regulating their population and protecting human health. What is more, a person has the right to resort to radical measures when his (her) life is threatened or in a situation where it is necessary to protect domestic animals from mass diseases. Another point that allows for the hunting for legally protected Red Book spices is the maintenance of the corresponding traditions of the indigenous peoples of Russia.
It is necessary to apply for a document giving permission for such measures to Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources. We should note that human rights activists oppose this law, as they believe that it actually legalizes VIP hunting.
