Gazprom has filed a new lawsuit against Naftogaz of Ukraine
The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region has received a new lawsuit from Gazprom against the state-owned Naftogaz of Ukraine. The essence of the requirement is not specified in the file of arbitration cases (case A56-52159/2025).

Gazprom initiated a previous lawsuit against the current defendant at the end of 2023. The essence of the requirements at that time was to prohibit Naftogaz of Ukraine from continuing proceedings in the International Arbitration Court of the International Chamber of Commerce in France.

In 2024, the court granted Gazprom's claim for a ban and ordered the defendant to pay a fine of $150 million in case of violation. In the spring of 2025, the amount of the fine was increased to $1.4 billion. It was up to this amount that Naftogaz of Ukraine raised its claim against the plaintiff in foreign arbitration.
