CREDITORS HAVE FILED 13 BANKRUPTCY APPLICATIONS FOR THE DESPORT NETWORK SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

The latest notification of plans to bankrupt the management structure of the network (Oktoblu JSC) was sent by Tempo Invest. It is known that it manages the Okhta Mall shopping complex in St. Petersburg. A message about plans to declare the organization insolvent appeared on Fedresurs.

The organization has been in existence for more than two decades. Previously, it was part of the French Decathlon orbit and entered the Russian market in 2006. However, after the departure of the foreign beneficiary, the assets were transferred to the ARM company. At that time, the French company operated 57 outlets in Russia. According to the documents, Vyacheslav Mareev was the final owner of Oktoblu JSC in 2024.

The reporting figures reflect a serious decline. Last year, revenue decreased by almost a third. The organization reported receiving 3.2 billion, which is 35.3% less than in the previous period. In terms of net loss, the business missed 2.3 billion. Before that, the loss was 2.9 billion.

The brand's presence in the market has noticeably decreased. Previously, Desport had dozens of outlets, but today only 16 are open in 9 cities of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the judicial burden on the organization is rapidly increasing. The year before last, 18 lawsuits for 92.3 million were submitted to arbitration. Last year, the number of trials exceeded one and a half hundred. The volume of claims exceeded 1 billion. In 2026, the retail chain is involved in litigation for $133 million.

Additional difficulties arose last month, when for almost two weeks there were interruptions in the operation of the cash registers. This has seriously affected sales. Visitors to a number of retail outlets continue to complain about difficulties in paying for goods. Since May, the official website has stopped opening. Sales on online trading platforms have actually stopped. Many of the goods there are valued at 90 thousand rubles per piece. Market participants explain this price as a way to avoid site commissions.

Although there are many notifications about plans to bankrupt Desport, most of the applications have not yet been accepted for production. Lawyers specializing in insolvency note that creditors often use the very threat of initiating a case as a method of influencing the debtor. Wanting to avoid starting the procedure, the company often pays off debts to those counterparties who are the first to face court. However, such tactics only postpone the crisis, but do not solve the underlying problems.

According to analysts, the chances of saving Desport's business are minimal. In order to continue operating, the company needs a deep transformation. Possible steps include reducing retail space to reduce costs, updating the product range, and boosting online sales.
