CLIENTS OF BANKRUPT BANKS WILL RECEIVE ADDITIONAL PROTECTION
Depositors of banks that have been declared insolvent will be provided with additional protection. The relevant amendments were made by the Federation Council to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation.

The Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) will be required to report data on the amount of interest paid to an individual and the determination of the dates of their actual receipt of income to the tax authority. Such a measure will be implemented when a temporary administration or a bankruptcy trustee appears in a bankrupt bank.

The date of receipt of the interest income transferred by the agency to the depositor in connection with the insured event will be the date of the actual payment of funds in the liquidation process, and not the date of revocation of the license from the credit institution.

According to experts, such a system will help to protect depositors from a situation when, upon revocation of a license from a bank, a client must pay interest income tax before actually receiving a payment from the bankruptcy estate of an insolvent bank.
