CELEBRATORY ASSEMBLIES WILL BE HELD IN RUSSIAN SCHOOLS ON SEPTEMBER 1

The Ministry of Education is currently considering a situation in which a new academic year will start for the students from September 1 and the celebratory assemblies will be held as well.

The day before, the head of the ministry, Sergey Kravtsov, reported that school assemblies would still be held on the Knowledge Day. The official reminded that in order for them to be held, the compliance with safety measures is obligatory so that both children and teachers could remain healthy.

Kravtsov previously announced a change in the format of school assemblies, but apparently, the ministry’s position has changed.

The Minister expressed hope that both children and teachers would come to schools in the new academic year to participate in the traditional educational process.

We should recall that the changes in the work of children's institutions, including schools, were introduced in the spring due to the pandemic of coronavirus infection. Children were transferred to distance education from home, in a number of regions, transitional and final exams were postponed or completely canceled, the celebratory assemblies of the grades 9 and 11, as well as the annual graduation parties were held in a changed format or did not take place at all.

The legislative initiative to conduct distance learning in schools in a number of regions was the result of the spread of COVID-19. The experiment will last until the end of 2022.
