A tectonic shift is underway in the St. Petersburg construction market. Another player, who had been working since 1993, could not stand the financial press. The arbitration received an application for insolvency from NPF Petrotech (JSC). The company, which once actively supplied hardware to the Maxidom and Domovoy networks, decided to launch its own bankruptcy procedure.
In addition to external factors, the business was under pressure from heavy litigation. Last year, counterparties filed six lawsuits against the company for almost 40 million rubles. The reasons are the disruption of commercial real estate lease agreements and supply logistics disruptions.
At the same time, the organization itself owed employees about 14 million rubles out of a total amount of 31.5 million rubles. Among other creditors, there are 11 more legal entities, ranging from IT companies to related manufacturers and trading houses.
The true point of no return for the management was the blocking of the current account by the tax authorities. It was this measure that forced the top management to initiate the insolvency recognition process, although the financial performance of the company was creeping down gradually. Last year's revenue dropped by 15% (to 197.6 million), while net loss, on the contrary, increased to 29.2 million.
Experts attribute the troubles of fastener manufacturers to the general stagnation in construction – demand is falling due to a slowdown in both industrial and private construction. However, the statistics are mixed. So, Lemana PRO noted a 3% increase in hardware sales in May due to the summer season. And the Domashny Master network recorded an increase of 2.5% in the first half of the year. But they immediately point to a 10-12% increase in the cost of rent and photos, which eats up marginality.
Petrotech's corporate structure deserves special attention. About a million of the salary debt is owed to director Konstantin Yeronov (previously co–founder). Two other similar companies, Petrotech Exi and Konductor, are registered on it, sharing the same legal address with the debtor.
Lawyers admit that we are witnessing a classic restructuring through bankruptcy. Stable assets can migrate to the "daughters", and problematic liabilities will be settled through a judicial procedure.
