A MAJOR EUROPEAN AIRLINE HAS STOPPED FLIGHTS

For the first time, the company experienced a collapse in April 2020, when the demand for air services fell, and about 2.4 thousand employees were left without work. In 2021, Flybe's property was acquired by Thyme Opco, affiliated with the hedge fund Cyrus Capital from the USA. The company was named Flybe Limited.

Now the airline's management had to dismiss 277 of the 321 employees who had been working recently. Since the company has switched to the administrative management mode, 44 employees still remain in place to maintain the premises and equipment.

Panic began in social media popular among Britons after it became clear that the company could not organize alternative ways of delivering its passengers. In cases where travel was booked through intermediary structures, the Flybe administration recommended that its customers get in touch with another carrier or agency that made the reservation.

The British authorities note that the main reason for the closure of Flybe flights was the consequences of the pandemic, from which many air carriers cannot move away. It is known that Flybe was the largest interregional carrier in Europe. The firm operated regular flights from three airports (Belfast, Birmingham and Heathrow) throughout the country, also flying to Geneva and Amsterdam.
