A LARGE ARCTIC COAL PROJECT ON THE VERGE OF BANKRUPTCY
The Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has accepted a bankruptcy petition from Taimyrgormash (TGM), the operator of the large-scale development of the Syradasayskoye field with reserves of 5.7 billion tons of coal, which calls into question the future of one of AEON Corporation's projects in the Arctic.

The initiator of the process was the supplier of mining equipment, LLC Kryptonium, which subsequently abandoned its requirements. However, in early September 2025, a new creditor entered into the case — Arkhangelsk Commercial Sea Port LLC, which collected 59.4 million rubles in arrears from Taimyrgormash under the cargo transshipment agreement. The meeting on the TGM insolvency case is scheduled for October 6.

According to the reporting data of Taimyrgormash LLC for 2024, the company faced a critical imbalance of income and expenses due to non-fulfillment of planned work volumes agreed with the sole customer, Severnaya Zvezda LLC. The remoteness of the field and the difficult conditions of the Far North aggravated the situation, leading to the accumulation of an uncovered loss of 2.32 billion rubles and total accounts payable to counterparties in the amount of 5.98 billion rubles. In addition, the company's other long-term liabilities exceeded 3.4 billion.

According to a Kommersant source, the project, which was financed with borrowed funds, can no longer count on lending in conditions of high key interest rates. This creates conservation risks for the entire asset, including the Yenisei coal terminal and processing plant under construction. Experts note that the presence of bankruptcy proceedings and negative net assets of the company significantly reduce its investment attractiveness for potential financial partners.
