7.5 BILLION WAS RECOVERED FROM THE EX-MANAGEMENT OF INTRASTBANK FOR DELIBERATE BANKRUPTCY
On June 17, 2025, the Metropolitan Arbitration Court (AS GM) satisfied the claim of the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA), collecting over 7.5 billion rubles from the former management and beneficiaries of Intrastbank JSCB (JSC). The defendants were found guilty of actions that led to the bankruptcy of the credit institution and were involved in the subsidy.

Former board chairmen Boris Epifanov and Vladimir Dobrynin, its beneficiaries Viktor, Oleg and Galina Tarasov, Vladimir Karavaev and Natalia Kozlova are among the persons from whom the court decided to recover damages. The list also includes former board members Leonid Popov and Elena Kurtepova. According to the court, it was their actions that led to the loss of the bank's solvency and undermined its financial stability.

As established during the proceedings, the bank's management committed a number of gross violations. Among the key episodes are the issuance of unsecured loans to companies affiliated with the management, the transfer of large amounts of funds in favor of related structures, as well as the obstruction of the work of the interim administration and the CU by concealing documentation and databases. The court also pointed out that the management had not taken any measures aimed at preventing financial collapse.

Intrastbank's license was revoked in 2014. Then the Central Bank of the Russian Federation stated the inability of the organization to fulfill its obligations to customers. From that moment on, the DIA began work to identify the circumstances that led to bankruptcy.

The final court decision became an important precedent for the practice of subsidization in the banking sector. It strengthens the position of the regulator and emphasizes the personal responsibility of the management for the fate of the financial institution.

Experts believe that the Intrastbank case should become an example for other market participants both in terms of bank risk management and in the context of the consequences of unfair behavior. The DIA continues to recover assets in the interests of creditors and depositors of the bankrupt bank.
