14 REGIONS OF RUSSIA WILL SHIFT TO REMOTE LEARNING

The project of remote learning has been actively discussed in recent months. After the schools had been forced to shift to e-learning because of the pandemic, many wondered whether such a learning component was effective.

According to the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, an experiment to introduce remote learning can be launched in the new academic year in a number of regions (there are 14 of them). The innovation will not only affect schools; colleges and organizations providing additional education services will be involved in the process as well.

The experiment is supposed to last 2.5 academic years and is planned to be finished on 31 December, 2022.

The regions that will take part in the distance learning trial are already known. These are the Kaliningrad, Astrakhan, Sakhalin, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk, Moscow, Kemerovo, Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga and Novosibirsk regions, as well as the Altai and Perm territories and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.

For the purposes of the experiment, the educational institutions will be equipped with high-speed Internet and the necessary computer equipment with software.

According to the head of the Ministry of Education, online technologies will not be able to fully replace the educational process in schools, but such methods can be used during the periods of outbreaks of cold-related diseases.

For the moment, the decision is being publically discussed, and at this stage, it is possible to make comments and suggestions on it.
