THE SUPREME COURT PROPOSED TO BAN THE ARREST OF MOTHERS FOR MINOR CRIMES
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation proposes to prohibit the arrest of women with young children for minor crimes. This was stated by the chairman of the court Vyacheslav Lebedev.
"With regard to women with young children, it is proposed to provide for the possibility of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention only on charges of serious and especially serious crimes, and in exceptional cases – in crimes of moderate severity of a violent nature," Lebedev said at a plenary session of the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation.
It is planned to arrest only those whose identity has not been established, or they do not have a permanent place of residence or place of residence in Russia. And in cases of crimes of minor gravity, those citizens who tried to escape or violated the previously chosen measure of restraint will be detained.
Also, the Supreme Court suggests not to arrest persons suffering from serious illnesses.
