THE STATE DUMA OF RUSSIA WILL CONSIDER THE DRAFT LAW ON THE RE-ELECTION OF PUTIN

The State Duma will consider a draft law that provides for the possibility of a new re-election of Vladimir Putin in the nearest future. The corresponding document has already been submitted to the lower house of Parliament.

Let us recall that the creation of the draft law was preceded by the idea of   amending the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which was announced earlier this year. After that, a specially created committee took up the formation of the proposed amendments.

In the process of work, State Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova made a proposal to provide the current president with an opportunity to be re-elected. The idea was supported both by other parliamentarians and by Putin himself, who was in Duma that day.

The new rule excludes previous terms of presidency for Vladimir Putin and gives him the right to be eligible for additional years of rule.

The current president has been in power since the end of 1999, the current term should be the last one possible for him under the law. However, now he will again be able to participate in the election race.

The law also establishes a number of additional restrictions on candidates for the highest office. In addition to the age limit (from 35 years old) and citizenship, the rule of law provides for permanent residence in Russia and the absence of citizenship or a residence permit of another state.
