THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF RUSSIA PROPOSED TO RAISE THE PRICES OF SPARKLING WINES

 The Ministry of Finance announced a proposal to raise the minimum market price (MMP) of sparkling wines.



The initiative is linked to the projected inflation rate for this year, which is expected to amount to 3%.

The ministry proposes to raise the MMP of champagne to 169 rubles per bottle with a capacity of 0.75 liters. Additionally, it was proposed to increase the minimum purchase price of the manufacturer. In this case, an increase in price for 3 rubles is provided, in connection with which the price of a bottle of the same volume may reach 118 rubles.    

In addition, the Ministry of Finance has previously announced a proposal to increase the cost of strong alcoholic drinks.

The changes may affect vodka, liqueur, brandy, cognac and other drinks, the strength of which exceeds 28%.

Thus, the MMP of vodka may be raised by 8 rubles per 0.5 l and amount to 238 rubles, the MMP of cognac may be raised in price by 13 rubles (its proposed the MMP of is 446 rubles per 0.5 l), the MMP of brandy may amount to 324 rubles instead of the previously approved 315 for the same volume of 0.5 liters.

The proposed changes may come into effect in the beginning of the following year.
